Mikayla comes to Visit - 6.22.13

Mikayla came to visit from Washington again this year and I hope this is a yearly thing for them. Amyra just loves Mikayla and they get along so well. She visited last year for my Dad's 60th birthday and the moment they saw each other this time, they were best buds instantly. They played with each other at Gammie's park the first night, and then Mikayla stopped by for a few hours the following day (and the girls covered themselves with makeup!) and then they ended the weekend at Uncle Ryan's ranch. It's just so amazing to think that Monica and I played with each other during my teenage years, and now our kids are best buds. So crazy.

Amyra's Dance Recital - 6.22.13

Amyra was so excited for her dance recital this year. They danced to a song called "Ready or Not" and it was a little hip hop number that included some partner work. I would have Amyra practice her routine at least once during the week and she was one of the best at remembering her routine in class. She did a wonderful job performing at the recital, remembering all the moves and was an overall superstar. She was able to watch some of the other performances and expressed interest in taking ballet. I prefer hip hop but we will see next year.
Anyway, I will try to upload her performance but here are some pictures with her friend and partner Addison.
Amyra did NOT want to take any more pictures. Haha.
This was the best smile I could get.
She was all smiles after her performance though.
Gammie was able to come and watch her perform and gave her some flowers.

The kids at the park with Daddy - 6.21.13

So Lateef took the kids to the park while I was at a dance rehearsal with Amyra? Not sure. I want to say this was one of the first times Teef was able to really enjoy the park as an active participant? Who knows? Regardless my kids are cute and so I couldn't get rid of these pictures.
Wow look at Teef's cheeks. I want to eat them.

Mya's Mohawk - 6.21.13

Does it get cooler than Mya with a mohawk? No, I don't think so. She's such a rock star!

Amyra's Kindergarten Graduation - 6.20.13

Well she did it! This milestone is complete. It went by way too fast.
The ceremony was sweet. They sang songs and there was a video montage and that's when I started getting emotional. Music combined with pictures always gets me.
Amyra said she wanted to be a dancer (which was news to me because I thought she wanted to be a singer). I'm happy she enjoys performing for now. Hopefully that confidence will continue into adulthood and beyond. I don't know what her future holds but I just want her to be happy ultimately. I love this girl and she makes me so proud!
So glad she was able to finish her year off with Maria.
Amaya joined us for the graduation.
This cutie posing after graduation. Aww.

Natalie's Birthday Party - 6.19.13

Has it really been a month since I last blogged. Where does the time go!?! I am forever like 5 months behind. I will catch up before the end of the year and will stay on top of this! Sheesh!
Anyway, after Amyra's Water Day at school, we went to Natalie's birthday party (she turned 5). They had dress up and Amyra got to see Portia which is always exciting.
The most memorable moment however occurred during a donut game where you tie a donut to strings and the kids have to eat them without their hands. It was the first time I had ever seen the game and the first time the girls played it. It was amusing to watch but my favorite was that Amyra figured it out in like three seconds and just literally inhaled the donut in one swallow. And she did it again the second time. Haha. What a funny girl.

Amyra inhaling it and Mya using her hands to help.
